Diving 3
Some more dive pictures
The pictures on this page were shot during a pair of dives on the Hyde on November 23, 2008. Water was 61 top to bottom. We had 50 ft of viz on the ship and 70 ft out on the sand. Calm seas and a sunny day.
Some NCSU divers were diving that day:
There were lots of amberjacks around. Here is my dive buddy that day, Matt "The Aussie".
On the second dive Matt and I were drifting over the sand looking at small critters and the amberjacks kept swimming in and around us. Finally gave up and tried to get a good picture of them. Here is the best one
We did spot some blue gobbies. They float above the sand and dart in if you get too close. Wierd looking little fish
And a bank seabass under a rock
The Hyde is covered with soft and some hard corals
There were a number of large sheepshead
There were a lot of grouper but they were hard to photograph. Shot this one through a hole in the side of the ship
Looking up from the Hyde you could see schools of bait fish and the sun on the sea surface above.
We also saw several sea cucumbers and one juvenile
